Small Business Development and Diversification grant program

May, 2023

We’re incredibly proud to announce that JTW is one of 21 business in Western Australia that has been selected for the first round of the SBDD grant program awarded by the Government of Western Australia.

The SBDD grants are part of the State Governments $80million Native Forest Transition plan, which aims to support local business most effected by the decision to end native forest logging in 2024.

Whilst some perceived this decision to be the end of the hardwood forestry sector, JTW saw an opportunity to adapt and establish ourselves as a reputable, reliable and responsible company within the sawmilling industry.

The funding we received will be used to purchase a Wood-Mizer LT50 bandsaw mill and to upgrade the plant and machinery at our workshop in Wangara.

We’re excited for the year ahead!

Workshop opening & exhibition

We're pleased to announce our first workshop open night at our workshop in Wangara!

We'll kick the night off with a workshop tour where our aim is to give our visitors an insight into what it takes to make a bespoke piece of furniture right here in WA.

Towards the front of the workshop we'll have a variety of epoxy artwork on display. Each piece is a glimpse into the wonderful coastline we call home.

To add some excitement to the night we'll be hosting a raffle prize draw where you'll have the chance to win one of the epoxy artworks on display.

If you feel inclined to create your own piece of artwork or any other woodworking project we'll also be selling a variety of sustainably sourced and kiln dried timber.

Light refreshments and nibbles will be provide throughout the night.

When: 1st July 2023

Where: Unit 21 / 51 Lancaster Road, Wangara

Australian Made and Owned

11th January 2023

Proud to share that we’re now officially a certified Australian Made and Owned business! From it’s inception JTW’s vision has always been to enrich people’s lives with quality products, and the best way to do that is to source local from start to finish.

We’re open for timber sales!

18th July 2022

Here at JTW we specialise in the supply of primarily live-edged Western Australian hardwood slabs. The core species we work with our Jarrah, Marri, Blackbutt and Sheoak. These slabs range from hobbyist size pieces to 300 year old, 4.5m long slabs. All our timber is kiln dried and dressed so there’s no need to worrying about slabs warping over time.

Whether you’re after live edge floating selves, figured boards or small serving boards chances are we have the timber for you.

Our address is Unit 21 / 51 Lancaster Road, Wangara WA (open by appointment only)

We’ve moved!

15th October 2020

An exciting new chapter has commenced! James Turner Woodwork is now operating out of a 270 square meter unit in Wangara, Western Australia. This move has facilitated the expansion of the business, so we’re now pleased to announce the construction of a in-house showroom to display all the current furniture and artwork.
